CLASH OF THE TITANS (DEBATE)

Do you think your words can move the house? Do you think you have arguments to make, which will force people to ponder? Then this is the event and V-ignite 2k17 is the stage. Head drilling topics, serious competition and a great learning experience is what we have for you.​

  • Individual event.

  • 2 participants per school.

  • Medium of language is strictly English, although quotations from other languages can be used. These quotations should not be more than 30 words long and need to be translated into English.

  •  

  • Prelims and finals. Traditional debate followed by one on one.

  • Topics will be given on the spot.

  • 3 minutes each

  • Decision of the judges would be final and binding.

 

MIXED BAG

A cocktail of word events and speaking events prepared at its best, waiting to be served!

  • Team event (2 per team).

  • Prelims & finals.

  • “What's the good word” for prelims.

 

TINY TALES

Here’s your chance to be crowned as the best micro-fiction writer. Write a story that is quick to read, but hard to forget. Get ready to create magic in [200] characters. It’s all about words that speak volumes. Write what your heart whispers.

Here we give you the most valuable 60 seconds that you could ever have. Make it worthwhile!

  • One participant per school is allowed to participate.

  • Speak for a minute on the given topic without breaking the rules.

  • There are people waiting to pounce on you when a mistake is made.

  • No repetitions, hesitations or deviation.

  • Remember , mod is god.

 

TAMIL

 

EZHUTHTHOVIYAM (POETRY)

 

We offer you a golden opportunity to showcase your creativity in a beautiful poem.

 

Rules:

  • Individual event, two contestants per school.

  • Only one round.

  • Topic will be given on the spot.

  • Participant should write a puthukavithai or marabukavithai.

  • Participant should not write a haikoo.

  • Time limit is 30 minutes.

  • The poem should relate to the theme of the contest.

  • Choice of words and originality of the poem will be considered.

 

TAMIL QUIZ

 

This is an event to test your knowledge in Tamil literature. Happy quizzing!

  • Team event. Two teams per school.

  • Two members per team.

  • Prelims and finals.

  • Pen and paper round for prelims. 15 questions, 30 minutes.

  • Top 6 teams will be selected for finals.

 

CONNEXIONS

 

An event inspired by the famous TV Show ‘CONNEXIONS’

  • Team event. Two teams per school.

  • Two members per team.

  • Prelims and finals.

  • Connecting the pictures is all that you need to do!

  • General questions.

 

 

VAADHAM PUDIDHU (DEBATE)

Here is a debate for you to explore your speaking, rebutting, defending skills, etc. Time to conquer the stage!

 

  • 2 participants per school.

Round 1:

  • Participants can choose a topic among given 6 topics.

  • 3 minutes each to prepare and present.

  • 2 minutes shall be given to present their argument.

  • Language, content and body language will be considered for judgment.

 

Round 2:

  • It is a formal debate and topic will be given on the spot.

  • 8minutes for preparation.

  • Language, body language, team support, offending points will add up to your credit.

 

ARTS

 

DOODLE DESIGNING

 

Are you a constant doodler? Do your intricate designs take up lots of space in your notebooks? If yes, then here is your chance to showcase your doodle skills and get exciting prizes.

  • Individual event. 2 participants per school.

  • Paper for designing will be provided (A4 size).

  • Materials required should be brought by the participants.

  • Time limit: 45 minutes

  • Theme: “To me happiness is”

  • Participants should bring the necessary drawing materials like sketches, color pencils, crayon etc.

GARLAND MAKING

 

Are you good in turning papers into stunning flowers? Turn on your creativity mode to make a bright and colorful garland

  • Team event. 3 members per team.

  • Time limit: 1hour.

  • 1 team per school.

  • Usage of natural flowers and decorative items are prohibited.

  • Strictly to be started from the scratch. No prior preparation of garland.

  • The participants should bring the required materials.

 

POSTER MAKING

 

Brush your imagination and add colors to the white paper. Create your own design and turn the white paper into hues of your thought.
 

  • Individual event.

  • 2 members per school.

  • A theme will be given on the spot.

  • A3 sheet will be provided. The participants are expected to bring all other required materials.

  • Acceptable tools of drawing/painting include pencil, crayon, water colors, poster colors, oil paint etc. Photographs, wires and other 3D objects are not acceptable.

  • Time limit: 1 hour

 

 

RANGOLI

Are you capable of turning even the dull stuff into a splendid and a colorful one? Here are our roads waiting to be adorned by you!
 

Rules:

 

  • Team event, 3 per team.

  • 2 teams per school.

  • A theme will be given on the spot.

  • Participants should bring all the materials required.

  • Only flowers/grass/natural colors/color powder should be used. No paint is allowed.

  • Rangoli should not exceed the area provided.

  • Time limit is 1.5 hours.

  • Judging will be based on creativity, originality and maximum utilization of given space for the design.

 

THEATRE EVENTS

 

DRAMA

Life is a stage and you get to perform only once. Make it a good one.

  • One team per school.

  • A team of 6-8 can participate.

  • Language can be English or Tamil.

  • TOTAL TIME ON STAGE MUST NOT TO EXCEED 6 MINUTES, including self-introduction, the announcing of the titles and authors of the selections.

  • Bonus points will be rewarded on the basis of innovation, depictions of the situation, dialogue delivery, teamwork and expressions.

  • Vulgarity of any kind shall not be encouraged.

  • Props can be used.

  • In case the team is using recorded voices, the CD/pen drive has to be submitted to the desk before the commencement of the event.

MONO ACTING

Ever wondered why you haven’t tried acting before? If yes, go grab the stage. Even if not, GIVE THIS A SHOT!

  • Individual event.

  • A maximum of 2 participants per school.

  • A theme will be given on the spot.

  • 5 minutes to prepare and 3 minutes to perform.

  • Obscenity, offensive gestures and dialogues must be strictly avoided.

  • Decision of the judges would be final and binding.

MIME

Experiment the actor within you and let your expression convey your feelings. Let the silence speak and somebody someday said actions speak louder than words.

  • One team per school.

  • A team of 5-7 can participate.

  • The team can choose any theme.

  • TOTAL TIME ON STAGE MUST NOT TO EXCEED 5 MINUTES, including self-introduction, the announcing of the titles and authors of the selections.

  • Bonus points will be rewarded on the basis of innovation, theme, depiction of the situation, teamwork and expressions.

  • Props shall not be used.

  • Vulgarity of any kind shall not be encouraged.

MUSIC

V-IGNITE IDOL

Want to hold the centre stage and set it on fire with your voice? Enthrall the audience with your mellifluous singing to grab this glorious title!

  • A maximum of 2 participants per school.

  • Prelims and finals.

  • The rules for finals will be announced at the end of prelims.

  • Time limit: 3 minutes.

  • Songs can be of any genre/from any Indian language (includes movie songs).

  • All participants are expected to be prepared with 3 or 4 songs in different genres.

  • Songs with any kind of vulgarity will not be entertained.

  • The participants will be judged based on the song selection, voice quality, clarity, rhythm, and their appeal to the audience.

EASTERN BAND EVENT

It’s high time for your band to come out all guns blazing. Bring it on!                       

  • One band per school.

  • There should be a maximum of 8 members per band (including instrumentalists).

  • Time limit is 10(8+2) minutes of stage including setup.

  • Fusion of songs can be from any Indian Language (includes movie songs).

  • The bands are expected to perform based on a certain theme.

  • Own composition will be awarded extra points.

  •  Songs with any kind of vulgarity will not be appreciated.

  • Judging will be based on coordination, expression, rhythm, clarity, dynamics and presentation.

DANCE

GET ON THE FLOOR (GROUP DANCE)

Solo is fine but group’s where the real battle lies. Time to face off!

  • One team per school.

  • Team of 5-7 participants.

  • Usage of properties is encouraged.

  • No vulgarity is appreciated.

  • Songs must be submitted half an hour before the commencement of the event only in a pen drive.

  • Judging will be based on style, coordination, choreography, usage of stage and costumes.

JUST DANCE (SOLO)

Get ready to shake your legs to the beat to show off the MJ in you. Boot up!

  • Maximum of two participants per school.

  • Time limit: 1.5 to 2 minutes.

  • Prelims and finals.

  • Participants should submit their songs only in a pen drive, half an hour before the commencement of the event for prelims.

  • Judgement will be based on style, costume, perfection etc.

  • Tie breaker will be a face off round.

  • Finals will be an adaptune round. (Performing for the songs played on the spot)

ADZAP

 

It’s time to squeeze up your brain and come out with the best marketing strategies to be the show-stealer!

Rules:

  • Maximum of 6 participants per school.

  • Time limit is 5 minutes.

  • Topics will be provided on the spot.

  • Judgment will be based on creativity, contribution of individuals in the team and presentation.

 

STANDUP COMEDY

 

 The usual and the best way to put it is, “Kalakkapovadhu Yaaru?” Make sure you do.

 

Rules:

  • Two teams per school.

  • 3 members per team.

  • Performance should not exceed 5 minutes.

  • Come up with your own concept for first round. Strictly no plagiarism.

  • Top six will be selected for the finals.

  • Concept will be given on the spot for the finals.

  • Time will be given to practice for the final round.

SCIENCE

CONNECT IN A MINUTE

CYBER QUIZ

Making a call to all the technical geeks out there! Software or ransomware? Are you a computer freak?  - Here’s the event for you to become a numero uno in techno world.

  • Team event.

  • Two members per team, two teams per school.

  • Prelims and finals.

  • Technical quiz.

 

 

 

IDEA PRESENTATION

Want to impress the world with your creativity? Then, this is the one you’ll have to take part in.

  • Individual event.

  • Two participants per school.

  • Must be a PowerPoint presentation (in a CD or Pen Drive)

  • Presentation must be based on recent advancements from one of these subjects:

  • Material science

  • Mathematics

  • Human biology

  • An abstract must be sent to our mail id email id vignite2k17@gmail.com a week prior to the competition. Entries with abstract will only be considered.

  • Mention name of the participant, name of the school, subject and topic at the top of your abstract form.

  • Only for 11th and 12th STD students.
